
Popular Texas Chili Ingredient Now Recalled For Scary Contamination
One thing you never do in Texas is mess with our chili, and that goes far beyond attempting to add heathen beans to the recipe. My father turns 80 later this year, and he enjoys a delicious bowl of chili as much as humanly possible in a given year, but this recent recall affecting Texas will leave him shelving the rest of the chili ingredients for a while.

I love my father, and of his four sons I am hands down his favorite, but the one thing he does that irritates me to no end is his insistence to add beans to his chili. Hey, I get it, it is his bowl, let him enjoy it however he likes, but he will still eat chili without beans, just never ask him to eat chili with his favorite, now recalled, ingredient.

Thankfully, you can still make your chili the Texas way, but sadly just about everyone's favorite final ingredient, or garnish has been recalled from shelves across the Lone Star State. According to this All Recipes article, Shearer’s Foods, LLC oyster crackers with a sale by date of May 23rd or 24th have been recalled.
Oyster Crackers Sold In Texas Have Been Recalled For Wire Contamination
Apparently the packages of select oyster crackers made by Shearer's Foods, and sold under various store and name brands have been found to contain wire wool, and the FDA has elevated the recall to a Class 2. Class 2 recalls mean using the product could result in temporary or medically reversible health issues.
