Texas Sales Tax Holiday Weekend Begins Friday
As Centex families wrap up summer break, here comes the state-wide tax holiday weekend just in time for back to school shopping! The Sales Tax Holiday begins this Friday and runs through Sunday.
The Texas law makes most clothing, shoes, and back to school supplies under $100 exempt from sales and use tax for the weekend. This applies to anything you buy from a store in Texas, or from an online store or catalog doing business in Texas. Layaway items are eligible for the tax exemption.
For every $100 spent, Texas would save on average about $8 according to our partners at News 10. Items that are NOT included in the tax-free weekend are jewelry, handbags, luggage, wallets, or briefcases.
While the tax-free weekend helps, there are still many families who have applied for assistance with school supplies from KISD. Townsquare Media's "Stuff the Bus" campaign helps raise donated school supplies for these families in need. Check out the button below for ways you can help our radio station fill the Killeen ISD school bus with school supply donations through August 11th!
You'll find us at Smile at the World Orthodontics in Temple this Thursday loading up the school bus with supplies for the kids! From 2 pm until 5 pm you can stop by and load up your school supply donations right onto the school bus and enjoy a free treat from Kona Ice when you stop by (while supplies last).
