Stereotypes are a crappy thing, right? You tell someone you live in Texas and what's the first thing they think?

"Well, why aren't you wearing a cowboy hat and boots?" BECAUSE NOT ALL TEXANS WEAR THEM!

And now we have the backup to prove that. Fashion website boohooMAN has given us the Street Style index, and you won't believe where Texas landed on the list.

Before we dive in, the things they analyzed for the index were things like fashion influence, online search data from the last 12 months, and social media engagement to try and figure out who has the best street style.

What is street style? According to Wikipedia, "Street fashion is fashion that is considered to have emerged not from studios, but from the grassroots streetwear." There is a whole page in Wiki dedicated to street style here.

So there's your background, let's dive into the study and what they found.

When it comes to Texas, Google search data revealed that Texas ranked eighth for the most searched street style, suggesting that not everyone thinks we're cowboys and cowgirls. The only state that beat us for best street style in the south was North Carolina. Are you surprised by that? I was.

As all the different data points were put together, Texas checked in with the SIXTH best overall street style. Not bad for a state that has a common misconception of how everyone dresses right?

There were a few other pieces of interest from the survey when it comes to different fashion senses. Searches for cargo pants are at an all-time high in the U.S. right now. These things were the IN fashion style when I was in high school, but I won't date myself. This is one of those, if you know, you know sort of things.

Cargo pants searches have broken out in the month of October by 294%, so if you can still fit in those cargo pants from back in the day, now would be a good time to bring them back to life.

Another "old school" fashion style that has made a comeback is bomber jackets. They are right behind cargo pants in popularity when it comes to Google searches, so if your kids are wanting to dig into your old wardrobe, don't be offended. Remind them you were the trendsetter.

My favorite one though has to be graphic t-shirts. I never stopped wearing them, and have quite a collection of them. This fall, an increase of 541% in graphic tees has happened, which means those old concert t-shirts are cool to wear again.

Huge shout to boohooman.com for doing this style index. We appreciate you helping change the narrative of everyone in Texas wearing boots and cowboy hats.
