Texell Credit Union Reports Data Breach
Texell Credit Union is reaching out to customers about a data breach that could have impacted the security of their personal information.
Our partners at News 10 report letters were sent on Sept. 3 to those who may be affected by the breach.
Suspicious activity involving an employee's email on May 14 is what alerted alerted the credit union, which then launched an investigation.
That investigation ultimately found that "an unauthorized individual" accessed the email account of the employee. However, they couldn't determine if any personal information was compromised.
“Based upon our investigation, the affected personal information may have included names, addresses, Social Security numbers, and account numbers,” Texell said in a letter to members.
Credit monitoring and identity protection services are being offered by Texell to anyone who might have been affected by the breach.
Texell has branches in Hewitt, Belton, Killeen, Georgetown, Cedar Park and four branches in Temple.
