The Woman Shot and Killed By Police near the US Capitol was a Dental Hygenist
There is an update on the incident yesterday in Washington, D.C., which caused both the U.S. Capitol and the White House to shut down. DC Police shot and killed a woman who tried to drive past barriers at the White House, then led police on a chase to the Capitol. A one year old baby inside her car was not hurt.
Various reports indicate the driver was 34-year-old Miriam Carey, of Stamford, Conn., a dental hygienist with mental health issues.
Thursday's incident began near the White House after the woman tried to get past security barriers. She reportedly hit the barriers and a Secret Service officer before speeding toward the capitol. Video taken minutes later near the U.S. Capitol showed the vehicle backing into a police vehicle before the chase resumed.
The motorist was shot by police just a few blocks away. Police say they did not know a baby was in the car.
