Thompson Square Celebrate National Kissing Day Onstage at Country Jam 2015
Thompson Square kept the crowd hyped on Friday (June 19) at Country Jam with an energetic evening set packed with covers. Keifer and Shawna Thompson always look stylish, and both were rockin' black jeans and sunglasses on this day, with Shawna in a green head scarf and white spotted top and Keifer sporting a Johnny Cash T-shirt.
The duo kicked off their Country Jam set with "I Got You," followed by "Just Feels Good," during which Keifer admitted "It just feels good ... to be back in Colorado!"
June 19 was also National Kissing Day, and Thompson Square (who also partook) couldn't have been armed with a more perfect song. "We're going to play something new for ya. This one's about getting up in somebody's grill and telling them to lay it on ya," Keifer told the crowd, who loved "Lay It on Me" — but they cheered even louder when the husband and wife duo shared a smooch on stage during "If I Didn't Have You."
2015 marked Keifer and Shawna's second time playing Country Jam. The last time was four years ago, when they took the stage before Neal McCoy. "We're going to do one we used to play down on Broadway for tips," Shawna shared. "We're talking about the good sh--, y'all!" The couple then launched into Hank Williams Jr.'s "Family Tradition" and also covered Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire."
"The first time we played at the Opry, they put us in the duets dressing room," Shawna shared. "The first thing I noticed was a picture of Johnny and June on the wall. Keifer and I really look up to them because of their love for each other."
Other songs in their set included "Here's to Being Here," "Glass" and a cover of "Hurts So Good," which led into "Everything I Shouldn't Be Thinking About."
Of course, Thompson Square also performed their current single, "Trans Am," before wrapping up the show with the tune that really put them on the map: "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not."
"Country music is our life," Keifer admitted. "If it wasn't for you, we'd be out of a job."
Thankfully, the married couple were hard at work for Country Jam attendees.
