Trigger Happy? Texas Man That Shot Motorist In Driveway Facing Murder Charge
A man in Texas is claiming self defense after killing a man who had parked in his driveway.
According to a report from the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office, Terry Duane Turner, 65, turned himself in to police on October 22 for the murder of Adil Dghoughi, 31.
A report from CNN states that Turner told police that on October 11th, 2021 he awoke at his home to use the restroom and noticed an unfamiliar vehicle with their lights off in his driveway.
Turner went to his bedroom to grab a handgun and found the vehicle still outside with their headlights on.
Allegedly the vehicle quickly backed out of the driveway and Turner followed by striking the front driver's side door window twice with his handgun twice, and then shooting.
Turner then called 911 and told the operator "I just killed a guy," and that the man "started racing away and I ran after him. He pointed a gun at me, and I shot."
Investigators were not able to locate a gun inside of Dghoughi's gray 2016 four-door Audi.
Dghoughi was transported to a hospital with critical, life-threatening condition and later succumbed to his injuries.
Caldwell County's Sheriff's Office has stated:
"Detectives have worked tirelessly on this case since the incident occurred on October 11th, 2021. Detectives have conducted multiple interviews and executed multiple search warrants in the course of this investigation."
Sarah Todd, Dghoughi's girlfriend told CNN that he was driving back home to Maxwell after visiting family in San Antonio and most likely pulled over for directions after getting lost.
