Trump Bombed Iran this Weekend – Will it Affect Central Texas
America hit Iran this weekend, so what does that mean for Central Texas?
This weekend, the U.S. executed a surprise military operation against Iran, hitting a few of their nuclear sites. The military mission, called Operation Midnight Hammer (for some reason we name wars like WWE matches), employed stealth bombers and submarine missile launches. Iran downplayed it (of course), while the U.S. government claimed they did major damage.
Now everyone's in a tizzy. Iran is mad. The U.S. Government is on high alert for retaliatory threats. What about Central Texan's? Well, we're left wondering how it affects our BBQ season, gas prices, and neighborhood Facebook groups.
What Does This Mean for Us Back in Texas
1. Gas Prices Could Go Up
If Iran tries to block oil shipments, gas prices could go up. So fill up that gas tank now at the $2.99 gas price because next week your truck is going to cry at the pump.
2. Neighborhood Gossip Just Got Interesting
Forget HOA complaints about tall grass. Now, all of a sudden, the neighborhood Facebook group is full of heated debate on foreign policy. Someone is going to say, "We should just turn the desert into glass," and someone else will fact-check it on facebook with a meme.
3. DHS is watching!
The Department of Homeland Security has already indicated they are on alert for possible threats. It is possible that you might see increased patrols in your neighborhood or random safety drills but probably just your uncle building a bunker behind the shed "just in case".
4. Possible Cyber Attacks
Homeland Security has already warned about possible cyber-attacks from Iran targeting U.S. Internet service. If your Wi-Fi suddenly goes down next week just blame Iran and not Spectrum.
5. Awkward BBQ Discussions
Expect to hear a conversation from your cousin that was banned from history class after he has now suddenly become a foreign policy expert proclaiming "I read on Reddit..." and "we should have done this years ago" while he's flipping hot dogs.
So Should We Freak Out?
Not really. It's serious, but that doesn't mean missiles are heading for Killeen any time soon. Just keep an eye on gas prices, your router, and on that one neighbor who is always a little too excited about world war rumors.
