KWTX News 10 and the Associated Press reports the U.S. Army has discharged over 500 immigrants who enlisted since 2017.

Individuals were recruited for their language and medical skills were promised a fast track to citizenship in exchange for their service in the army. This program was stopped in 2016 when it became known that recruits were not being screened properly. The Army began releasing those enlistees last year.

It's not known how many enlistees have been let go but KWTX says the Army's list indicates 502 members have been let go between July 2017 and July 2018. Recruits noticed "Refuse to enlist" was listed as the common reason for the discharge. Some have said that reason is not at all accurate.
