Would Variable Speed Limits Help Or Hurt Texas Drivers?
We've all been there in Texas. Stuck in traffic trying to get home, nothing moving, and of course frustration is all around. Traffic is caused by multiple factors, but could there be a way to alleviate some of the stress?
The first obvious factor that many should keep in mind of course is to drive safer. But all of us sometimes have places to go and things to see, so speed comes into play as well. Yes, some of us don't pay attention enough to the speed limit, depending on how late we are to certain things.
This could result in accidents, and we're all trying to avoid those all together. But one solution has been suggested by the National Transportation Safety Board, due to an examination of an crash that happened in 2021.

2021 Accident That Led To One Suggestion
The full report of the accident, located here, detailed everything that happened on February 11, 2021. Due to cold weather conditions, a multi-car accident occurred in Fort Worth, Texas on Interstate 35 West. Six individuals lost their lives, with many others suffering injuries.
The review by the NTSB put forward the idea of placing variable speed limit signs around the state. The signs themselves are consistently updated by data gathered from sensors placed on the highway.
These sensors could make their way to the Lone Star State as well, with a bill currently under discussion.
House Bill 1885 And Its Contents
The Bill, is detailed here, and if passed, would set up the signs to help in various cases of cars needing to slow down. At the time of writing, it is still in committee.
Do you believe these speed limit signs would help in the Lone Star State? Let us know by sending us a message using the chat feature on our station app.
