KWTX's Drake Lawson reported that a fire Monday night destroyed a home in Waco. The fire took place on East 11th and East Walnut shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Monday.

The man who lives at the residence, said he left for only 15 minutes to go to Buzzard Billy's and get some sugar.

The man returned back home to see his home up in flames. Neighbors near the home said they heard a popping noise that was equal to that of an explosion.

The owner of the home told News 10, he left his electric stove on to heat up waterwhen he left the home. Waco fire crews had the fire contained at 10:00 p.m., and the homeowner said he was planning on selling the house. The man didn't have anything valuable in the home, since he was in the process of selling the home.

Fire officials were on the scene to see what caused the fire, and Oncor crews were also present on the scene tending to a power line that was grounded.
