There are a lot of reasons one could not get the school supplies they need. Two of the biggest is that the item needed is potentially unavailable, or sadly, the family doesn't have the funds necessary to obtain the needed item.

For one school in Waco, as revealed by FOX 44, it's very tough for parents to get school supplies. G. W. Carver Middle School is a school that is "96.3 percent economically-disadvantaged," according to the news organization. Because of this, one teacher made a decision to try and help.

One Teacher's Online Fundraiser Works Wonders

Mary Evans, a teacher at G. W. Carver Middle School, was looking for a way to raise money for her students. To do so, she began a fundraising effort on Donors Choose. To start it off, she donated 25 dollars herself and then went to sleep for the night.

When she awoke, per Evans, she discovered that, according to FOX 44, "the next morning it was fully funded.” Yes, after one night, the fundraising goal was met! Dennise Wooden, the principal of G.W Carver, was proud of the actions of Evans, telling FOX 44:

“How ever she can get community involvement to come into the school and help those kids learn. That’s 100 percent what she’s there for...They do whatever they have to do like bring any supplies, deodorant. They’ve done toiletry bags for the kids. Anything that the kids need so that they have what they need to learn."

So, a round of applause for Mary Evans seems in order yes?
