
Waco Opens Warming Center Ahead Of Central Texas Ice Threat
As the winter weather prepares to hit the Central Texas area, everyone is getting ready to stay warm and have food ready for the upcoming freeze. However, not everyone is able to get to warm place for the night. Because of this, warming shelters are set to open in the Central Texas area, including Waco.
The Severe Weather Threat In Central Texas
By now, the threat of ice and sleet has been well documented by multiple news organizations. To simplify, roads will be treacherous, and temperatures will be below freezing. So, preparations have begun.

Everyone has seen store shelves with less items on them, and toilet paper has suddenly disappeared in droves. But the main worry is staying warm when the temps drop below freezing. How does one make sure they stay warm without a place to stay?

For one place in Waco, citizens will be able to warm up easily.
Warming Shelter In Waco Is Opening Soon For Those Who Need It
The Waco Multi-Purpose Center will act as a warming center, according to FOX 44, starting on Friday, January 23rd at the time of 8 PM. It will remain open until Thursday, Janurary 27th, when it will close at 11 AM. Per the city of Waco, the following will be provided:
- Blankets
- Bottled Water
- Cots
- Heated Indoor Space
- Meals Ready to Eat
Pets in crates will also be allowed. The warming center will be located at 1020 Elm Avenue in Waco.
