It's one of the most iconic homes in Texas. Southfork Ranch outside of Dallas, TX, was the setting for the hugely popular '80s television series "Dallas." But now folks are worried that the ranch could be in trouble after it's come into new ownership.

I've never seen a single episode of the show, but, yeah, I recognize the home. It's one of those properties that will live on forever in television lore.

Just in case you aren't familiar, "Dallas is an American prime time television soap opera that aired on CBS from April 2, 1978, to May 3, 1991. The series revolves around an affluent and feuding Texas family, the Ewings, who own the independent oil company Ewing Oil and the cattle-ranching land of Southfork."

Well, some good news for TV fans courtesy of NBCDFW, the company that purchased the ranch plans to keep the mansion in tact.

"We've got to preserve our history,” said Sean Terry, vice president of Centurion American. The ranch, Terry says, is on 44 of the 244-acre piece of property his company just bought. The vision, he says, is to build high-end homes on 200 acres of the property.

Southfork Ranch, which resides in Parker, TX, is still a big tourist draw. It attracts  hundreds of thousands of people each year, so it only make sense that they'd want to capitalize on its continuing popularity, right?

In fact, Terry said his company plans to work with the City of Parker to keep the “'Dallas' theme alive.”
