I'm a born and raised Texan and I am officially declaring Fall as the best season in Texas.

The Fall Equinox is quickly approaching on the 23rd, and I could not be more excited. The Farmer's Almanac states that the Fall equinox is, "the moment when the Sun crosses the Equator, and those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere will begin to see more darkness than daylight." Basically, the hours of daylight begin to shorten and the night gets a little bit longer. This leads to the end of Daylight Savings, which will fall on November 3rd this year. Most people know this as the time we "fall back" one hour, but I know it as the time I get an extra hour of sleep!

For me, the official first day of Fall is when Starbucks starts to sell the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Yes, I am that person! Honestly the Pumpkin Spice Latte is Fall in a cup for me, and this year Starbucks' released the PSL on August 27th. This is the earliest that the PSL has been released in the chain's history.

Along with the PSL, Fall also includes Halloween, Thanksgiving, football, and of course cooler weather! Fall provides the perfect Texas weather. The day is not unbearably hot and humid, and the nights are cool. Plus, the population of mosquitoes and other pesky bugs starts to diminish. Another Fall bonus is the Texas State Fair, which begins in late September and runs to mid-October.

I once heard that most people's favorite season is the season they were born in. Being born in November, this definitely rings true to me. But who can deny the thrill of a Friday night football game, or an evening by the fire reading your favorite book? All things that definitely do not fit in any other season.
