Woodway Texas Police Officer Attacked with Samurai Sword
A police officer in Woodway, Texas is in good condition after being attacked with a samurai sword over the weekend after a prostitution sting ended with nine arrests.
KWTX is reporting the officer was struck in the arm by the sword as he tried to stop a suspect who was trying to escape arrest. The suspect initially ran from police in his vehicle, but after a crash he exited the car armed with the sword. This happened in the 100 block of Taos Drive off of State Highway 84.
Police used a taser to stop the sword wielding suspect. Chief Yost Zakhary is with the Woodway Department of Safety and said the officers used restraint in dealing with the man. They could have easily shot the suspect in order to disarm him when he started swinging at officers with the sword.
The man with the sword's name is Billy Linkous. He is in the McLennan Country jail with bond totaling $133,500.
