World Record Longhorn Sells at Forth Worth Auction
Meet Cowboy Tuff Chex!
Chex is a world-record-setting Longhorn bull who sold for $165,000 at auction Friday in Fort Worth. The bull was purchased by Richard and Jeanne Filip, who will bring Chex to their ranch in Fayetteville, Texas.
Cowboy Tuff Chex has horns that measure 100 inches in length according to WFAA, and they've been certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest horns in the world. Chex is only 7 years old.
The bidding started at $300,000 for Cowboy Chex, but no one bid at that price so the number was reduced to an opening bid of $50,000. Bidding soon drove up the price to the final sale of $165,000 dollars.
WFAA reports the bidding opened with the announcer telling the audience that this was their chance to be the proud owner of "the greatest bull in the Longhorn world."
