An Austin police officer who pulled a woman over for illegal use of a cellphone ended up saving her life.

Officer Dustin Clinkscales stopped the woman on July 5. In a video released Monday by police, Clinkscales can be seen approaching the woman’s car as she exits in a panic. When he realizes she’s choking, Clinkscales performs the Heimlich maneuver.

Clinkscales was able to dislodge the food the woman was choking on, but she fainted and was taken to a hospital and examined as a precaution.

It turned out that the woman was the daughter of Austin Police Detective Duncan Dunn, who says his daughter is fine and extremely grateful.

According to KVUE News, Travis County EMS Captain Holly Craghead wrote Officers Clinkscales a commendation letter praising his quick thinking.
