53-Year-Old Cold Case in Texas
According to KWTX, police in Pecos are continuing their search for the identity of a young woman who was found dead in a motel pool fifty-three years ago.
As someone who regularly watches numerous crime shows, I'm not shocked, but I am deeply saddened. Some where out there is this woman's family, and they have no idea what has happened to their daughter.
The girl is believed to have been between the ages of 17-20 and was last seen alive checking into Ropers Motel in Pecos on July 5, 1966 with a man. Together the young woman and her associate used the names, “Mr. and Mrs. Russell Battoun.”
While her associate slept, the young woman decided to take a dip into the pool. Not long after, a motel worker found her lifeless body.
It seems her companion woke up and checked out while the ambulance was taking her body away. The man disappeared, and his true identity, as well as the young females' remains unknown.
The Pecos Police Chief, Lisa Tarango, has assigned Cpl Felix Salcido to re-open the investigation into the untimely death of this young woman.
