Alvin, Texas Woman Arrested For Threats Against Jan 6th Judge, Democratic Rep.
A woman from Alvin, Texas is currently facing charges for alleged criminal actions taken in the wake of news of the latest indictment against former president Donald Trump. Here's what we know so far.
Known Details Of The Case
According to CBS News, Tanya Chutkan was placed in charge of handling the case against Trump. The decision was made arbitrarily, with Chutkan not selecting the case, but having been randomly assigned. Shortly following the selection of Chutkan, before adjudication could begin, a woman named Abigail Jo Shry is alleged to have called the chambers of Chutkan and made threats against her life.
The full details of the incident can be found here, but we must encourage discretion, as some language in the file may be unsuitable for certain readers. In the affidavit, Shry is alleged to have stated, "You are in our sights, we want to kill you", as well as "You will be targeted personally, publicly, your family, all of it."
Shry is also alleged to have not only threatened Chutkan, but also Democratic Representative Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas.
After investigators traced the call back to Shry, they traveled to her home to question her regarding the call. The affidavit states that Shry acknowledged she made the call in question.
Shry was arrested and charged with a federal count of transmission in interstate or foreign commerce of any communication containing a threat to injure the person of another. She was also detained by order of Texas federal judge. She now awaits trial.
As this is a developing story, we will have more information when it becomes available.
