Amazing Texas Attractions That Will Make You Forget The Alamo
Okay, so obviously you will always "Remember the Alamo!", but Texas is a BIG state with a lot more to offer than just one single building. From space centers that are out of this world to stunning swimming holes, here is a list of Texas attractions that are truly unforgettable.
Museum of the Weird (Austin)
The Museum of the Weird calls itself "America's Strangest Attraction", and they might be right. Located in Downtown Austin on 6th Street, Austin's Museum of the weird hosts a litany of exhibits that will make you gasp, giggle, and question everything you thought you knew. Brittany F. said "This place is a must see in Austin. Especially for fans of ... all things strange."
Space Center Houston
Do you want to go to space? That probably won't happen. It requires a lot of hard work, training, and determination. You're more of a "Let's go to Denny's" rather than a "Let's go to space" kind of guy. Luck for you the Space Center Houston allows you to experience what being an astronaut is like through exhibits, training simulations, and a tour of Mission Control. You can do all of that, and still make it home in time for Wheel of Fortune.
Barton Springs Pool
In the heart of Austin in Zilker Park is a beautiful natural swimming pool called Barton Springs Pool. It is fed by an underground spring, and the water temperature is about 68-70 degrees Fahrenheit year-round.
Prada Marfa
In 2005 artists Elmgreen & Dragset created one of the most intriguing works of art in the state of Texas. In the middle of the desert about a mile and a half outside of the very rural town of Valentine, Texas is what appears to be a Prada store. The display windows showcase real Prada shoes and handbags from a 2005 collection. Leave your credit card at home though. This is not a functional store. You can't go by anything, and you can't even go inside. You can take plenty of pictures and post them to instagram, but don't wait too long. The building and its contents were designed to decay back into the desert eventually.
