AMC Series About Texas Oil Empire to Film in Central Texas This Summer
If you watch AMC television, you just might recognize a familiar background in a new TV series set to air in 2017. An emerging AMC series based on the book "The Son" will be shot in Central Texas this summer.
"The Son" is a historical novel, released in 2013 by Austin native Philipp Meyer, about the rise and fall of a Texas oil and ranch empire.
Texas Film Commission representative Heather Page said the agency is "excited to land this project and have such a wonderful Texas story be filmed in Central Texas."
The show has a lot of potential as its first season reportedly has a higher budget than most AMC series. Actor Sam Neill will play the lead role of Texas ranching mogul, Eli McCullough.
