New Inappropriate Relationship Case Lands Texas School Employee in Jail
Another Texas school employee has been arrested for an inappropriate relationship according to KLTV. The employee, Kayla Nicole O'Dell allegedly had a relationship with a student while she was working the Kilgore Independent School District.
Kayla was an instructional aide when she is alleged to have had a relationship with a student. O'Dell, who is 34, worked at the Kilgore ISD from August 2023 until January 25. In January the school started to investigate the accusations of misconduct. Kilgore ISD turned over all of the investigation results to the police once they were done.
On February 13th, I wrote an article about how the Bartlett ISD had two of its teachers reported for "inappropriate behavior" within two months of each other.
BARTLETT ISD HAS 2 TEACHERS REPORTED FOR “INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR”
This is becoming all too common. It seems like every week there is a story of a Texas school employee getting into trouble for what is deemed as an "inappropriate relationship". These predators need to start receiving maximum sentences, and there shouldn't be a double standard for when the adult is a woman with a teenage boy versus when it's a man with a teenage girl.
The psychological and emotional trauma can have lasting effects on the child even when the minor is a male. Parents should feel safe sending their children to school knowing that they are going to be educated, and that are not going to be the victims of the adult employees' sexual advances.
