For Whom The Car Tolls: Austin, Texas Roadways Having Billing Issues
Driving in Texas is rather stressful at times. With so many people in the area trying to get to a certain area, it can be a wheel-gripping time for anyone, old or new to the area. The one thing that everyone must be prepared for one Texas roads however is one thing: Tolls.
Yes everyone who lives in Texas and has driven on the highway has had to pay tolls. But thanks to invention of technology, paying them has been much easier. However, technology sometimes fails us, and TxTag recently has run into issues with tolls around Austin.
Billing Issues That Recently Surfaced
FOX 7 in Austin reports that some individuals have alerted the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority about discrepancies in their bills owed to the state. One woman, Bessy Martinez, moved from Dallas to Georgetown and started noticing problems after with her auto-pay.
Another person emailed FOX 7, stating they were unable to change their address after moving. This lead to the owners of her old place of residence receiving past due bills.
One man in Austin also sent to an email to the news organization that said he's received a $500 bill, even though he has a TxTag. He's also the seen the money taken out of his account as well.
TxDot's Response
TxDot stated in an email to FOX 7:
"We are not aware of an unusual number of customers receiving past due bills or with the issues noted…Customers are encouraged to contact our customer service center if there are concerns. TxDOT has replaced IBM as the vendor and have made substantial system improvements. CTRMA is processing and billing TxTag transactions normally. We have not received an unusual number of complaints with customers not being able to change their addresses, but if there are these instances they should contact customer service."
