Baylor Baseball just hit a grand slam off the field thanks to a record-breaking gift from Waco’s most famous home-and-lifestyle brand.

Massive Magnolia Donation

Baylor Baseball will get a big reveal in the coming season following a record donation from Magnolia, the company behind the massively popular TV series “Fixer Upper”. Baylor University announced Monday that the company founded by Baylor alumni Chip and Joanna Gaines had made the largest donation in program history.

A New Name

As part of the donation, the baseball field will be renamed “Magnolia Field at Baylor Ballpark”. According to Baylor, the donation will fund future capital projects.  The support from Magnolia is nothing new. Baylor officials say Magnolia has shown its support for the athletics program over the last 12 years via football sponsorships and the second-half cupcake challenge at Basketball games.

A Personal Donation

Something that makes the donation even more special for Chip Gaines is his personal relationship with Baylor Baseball. Gaines played baseball for Baylor in the 1990’s. AS part of the donation presentation, Chip posed with the team while wearing his Number 16 Baylor jersey. His wife, Joanna, held up a Number 78 jersey which represented the year she was born. Chip graduated from Baylor in 1998, while Joanna graduated in 2001.

Other Magnolia Projects

The Gaines continue to work their magic on homes in need of some TLC. Their latest project, “Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House” aired its third and final episode on December 23rd. The project saw the Gaines hiring a Colorado contractor to revamp three buildings on a two-acre Colorado property. Joanna and her eldest daughter handled the design while Chip enjoyed some fishing time.
