Belton ISD has fired two teachers that previously worked in their school system after they were charged with sex crimes against children. The Belton ISD board members voted unanimously to terminate both former employees.

Details Emerge in Case of Former Belton ISD Teacher, Logan Demeny

I previously reported on the arrest of Logan Michael Demeny in March, and later I was able to provide more details about the accusations when an affidavit was release regarding the accusations and charges. Yesterday, April 14th, Belton ISD fired Demeny. The school board would have been able to give Demeny the option to resign, however, they decided to terminate him instead.

Fourth-Grade Teacher at Tarver Elementary Also Terminated

Estavan Banda was a fourth-grade math and science teacher at Tarver Elementary in Belton was also terminated after the school board made another unanimous vote to end his contract with the school. Banda was arrested on charges of indecency with a child after being accused of allegedly touching a child inappropriately.

 

String of Recent Arrests and Convictions Within Belton ISD Community

 

Both of these men were arrested within one week of each other in March of this year. That same month, Trevor Swift was sentenced to seven years for charges of possession of child sexual abuse material that stemmed from an arrest in 2022.

Superintendent Assures Public of Commitment to Student Safety

Malinda Golden is the Superintendent of the Belton ISD, and she has released a statement assuring the public that she would not tolerate behavior from the staff that would jeopardize the safety of the students. Golden encouraged the students to be sure that if they ever felt that their safety was compromised that they should report any issues to her or the authorities so that action could be taken immediately.
