Belton, Texas is by far the busiest place in Central Texas for traffic as it is the only city in the middle portion of the Lone Star State where two interstates intersect. Just passed the Interstate 14 and 35 confluence at the southern portion of Belton's city limits beneath the Shanklin Road overpass, there was a pedestrian hit and run in the late morning hours of Monday.

According to this KCEN article, just after 10 AM a man was running across the southbound lanes of Interstate 35, and he was hit by a vehicle that did not stop. Thankfully the man on foot was taken to Baylor, Scott and White Medical Center in Temple and listed in stable condition, but the vehicle that hit him continued to travel south and the driver is likely to face several charges from failing to render aid, to potentially attempted vehicular manslaughter.

Right now, there is not a lot of additional information or even a description of the vehicle involved in the accident, so the Bell County Sheriff's Office and other local authorities are seeking any assistance they can receive from anyone who may have been in the area at the time.
