Parents in Belton and Temple are ready for their kids to be back in school!

The Texas Winter Storm Packed a Punch

The winter storm in Texas went from a Saturday and Sunday event to a Saturday through Thursday event. Daily freezing temperatures did not allow ice to melt, and the appearance of freezing fog in the early morning hours only added to the problem. While area students are loving the extra days off, local parents are ready for school to resume.

Will Temple/Belton Schools Need to Schedule Make-Up Days?

According to KXXV, students probably won’t have to attend make-up days, with a majority of the six main school districts in Central Texas saying there is no need to request TEA waivers. The reason is because the school districts included extra instructional minutes within their school calendars. According to state law, The Texas Education Agency can give a missed school day waiver which allows the district to avoid adding additional make-up days to their to their calendar. This can be done if a district misses more than two days of instruction due to severe weather, health or safety issues.
