Belton’s Berneta Peeples Celebrates 100th Birthday
The Belton Journal reports that Belton icon Berneta Peeples has celebrated her centennial birthday.
She began working at the Belton Journal on weekends during her freshman year at Belton High School and has been a contributor ever since.
She founded the Downtown Business Merchants Association and created Market Days. According to the Journal not only is Berneta a Yellow Rose of Texas Award winner, but she still knows how to enjoy a birthday party! Peeples moved into Park Place last year and the staff threw her a birthday party with over 150 attendees.
Peeples is a treasured member of the Belton community. The Journal reports she received over 100 cards in the mail for her birthday. It's great to hear she was able to enjoy a meal with friends, a big ol' birthday cake, and lots of loving fellowship.
Happy Birthday, Berneta!
