Boy With Leukemia Shares a Special Moment with NFL Player!
Has anyone ever dedicated something to you? A girl dedicated a song to me at the skating rink when I was ten years old. It was one of the most memorable moments of my young life, and I didn't even have a crush on the girl. It just felt nice knowing someone thought that highly of me.
Well, for a young fella by the name of Brixton Wood, he had something dedicated to him, but it wasn't a song at the skating rink. It was a touchdown dance at a Monday Night Football game. Brixton is from Georgetown, Texas, and he has been diagnosed with leukemia. He was able to meet the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, Ja'Marr Chase, before the game against the Dallas, Cowboys in Arlington, Texas. Meeting Ja'Marr Chase may have been a dream come true for Brixton, but it didn’t stop there.
Chase made a promise to Brixton. He told Brixton that if he scored a touchdown, he would dedicate his gritty dance to him. Considering the fact that Ja'Marr has 15 touchdowns in just 13 games there was a pretty good chance that Brixton would get his dedicated dance. With 14 receptions, 177 yards, and 2 touchdowns Ja'Marr more than delivered on his promise to young Brixton.
After the game, Chase talked about how Brixton’s battle touched him personally because it reminded him of his grandmother’s fight with cancer. “Just having an opportunity to be around someone who had cancer and is going through something like that…it touched my heart,” he said. “I just wanted to put a smile on his face and make him laugh and be a kid.”
Even though there were a tens of thousands of Dallas fans that left the stadium feeling disappointed there was one little Georgetown boy who couldn't have been happier after Chase scored the game-winning 40-yard score.
