Car Crashes into Killeen Mall Entrance At 2 AM
Shoppers looking to visit the Killeen Mall today arrived to find it was basically closed after an overnight car crash.
KWTX says the accident happened just before 2 AM Sunday morning. A Nissan Altima crashed through the north doors of the mall near Burlington Coat Factory. KCENTV says the mall is closed but that some department stores may remain open if it is safe to do so.
The way the accident has been described the car actually went inside the mall striking furniture and kiosks before coming to a halt. It will be interesting to see any video footage that may be out there from this crash. If you know of any please post it in the comments. The driver was taken to Metroplex Hospital.
Police say the person driving the Altima was traveling at a high rate of speed when they turned from Becker Avenue onto Illinois. The car left the road and plowed through a landscaping fixture and then into the mall.
Police have not released any charges yet. No word on any passengers in the vehicle or if anyone may have said those famous words, "you want outta this parking lot? Ok."
