One Hollywood star who recently relocated from Los Angeles to Austin took to TikTok to voice his displeasure with a very annoying insect that apparently isn't that much of an issue in California, Texas fire ants.

As one follower put it, "I don’t think anyone in Texas would disagree with you."

James Van Der Beek

Van Der Beek has been the star of many a movies and TV shows. You may remember him as Dawson Leery from Dawson's Creek or as Johnny "Mox" Moxon from my personal favorite Van Der Beek performance in Varsity Blues out of 1999 for which he won a MTV Movie Award and Teen Choice Award.

Van Der Beek has a long list of movies and tv roles on his resume. Most recently he played himself in the "Jay and Silent Bob Reboot" and as Grant in the 2020 release, "Bad Hair."

Welcome to Texas

Perhaps looking for a change of pace, and possibly lifestyle, Van Der Beek moved his family from Los Angeles, CA to Austin, Texas in 2020 and has been adapting to the Texas lifestyle ever since.

One thing that has caught him by surprise however is the Texas fire ants. Anybody who's run across these little devils knows exactly how much of a pain they can be.

Van Der Beek took to his TikTok account to pass along his displeasure.

Warning, you will hear adult language if you have the volume up.

Anybody who's had a run-in with these fire ants can certainly relate to all of this and of course the comments are gold!

Gabrielle Hultgren says, "I'm a native Texan, and i support this message."

Taylor Leavelle comments, "Much like Californians" killed me welcome to Texas brother! to which Van Der Beek answered with a 'Thank You"

And of course, an ode to Mox from Jesse Hernandez, "Best QB in Texas High School football history."

Welcome to Texas Van Der Beek, if the heat don't get you, the fire ants will.
