Centex Mom Dedicates Degree in Memory of Her Son Jace Jefferson
We wanted to take a minute to say congratulations to Meloney Jefferson after completing her degree from Grand Canyon University!
Meloney had to put her dreams of a degree in psychology aside when her son Jace was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2015. Jace was a friend and hero to so many children in central Texas. He encouraged him mom to continue her education despite his illness. Jace passed away in November of 2016.
Since then, the city of Belton decided to vote in favor of renaming a local sports complex in his memory. We got to meet Meloney in person moments after the decision by the Belton city council. She is a fantastic person, and will make a great teacher.
Meloney graduated over the weekend with the rest of the non-traditional students according to an article on the GCU website. When she spoke of the experience she mentioned, "Every psychology class, every paper I wrote and every late night with tears and discussion questions were for him. Every child’s life I touch with my degree will be dedicated to Jace Kolby Jefferson, my hero and my angel."
