On Tuesday, Hood County Commissioners issued a proclamation to rename a two-mile section of Williamson Road "Charlie Kirk Memorial Parkway," honoring the late conservative speaker. Kirk was assassinated on September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University.

According to Kirk’s Turning Point USA, Hood County Commissioners said "Under his visionary leadership, Turning Point USA grew into one of the most influential conservative youth organizations in the United States, with a presence on over 3,000 high school and college campuses, inspiring millions of young Americans to engage in civic life.”
More Honors to Come
The day after Kirk was murdered, Texas Rep. Jeff Leach of Allen promised that the first piece of legislation he files in January 2027 during the 90th Texas Legislative session, will be to erect a statue of Kirk on the grounds around the Capitol in Austin. Arizona and Idaho lawmakers are also moving to name highways in Kirk’s honor. Florida led the way in September 2025, naming a highway west of Orlando, Florida, after Charlie Kirk.

Kirk Haters Continue to Feel the Effect of Their Actions
A professor at Florida Atlantic University who made vile comments about Kirk and praised his assassin is still under suspension. Kate Polak is an English professor. The investigation into Polak remains ongoing. Maine’s Regional School Unit 67 Board recently voted to fire Mattanawcook Academy social studies teacher Derek Brewer for the vile comments he made about Charlie Kirk to his class after Kirk was assassinated. The school board found that Brewer’s actions demonstrate his unfitness to teach within the district.
