A Corpus Christi man has proven to the world that you're never too old to be in great shape, and he did it in grand style by setting a world record.

54-year-old Mark Jordan completed 4,321 pull-ups on November 4, 2014, beating the previous record of 4,210. Guinness officials confirmed Jordan's record Wednesday, March 11.

In an interview with WFAA-TV, Jordan said of his accomplishment, "My message, my mission, my passion with this is to let everyone know that it's never too late to start making a difference as far as improving and optimizing your health."

Jordan said he spent a year training for the record attempt, being sure to pace himself. He also used his training as an opportunity to raise money for the Hammons Education Leadership Program, a non-profit that helps young people connect with employers and develop skills that may lead to better opportunities.
