Coryell County Judge Roger A. Miller and Coyell County Emergency Management have reported the county's first COVID-19 related death.

According to a press release, County Officials were notified by Region 7, Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), that a male in his 70's had passed away on April 9th. That individual was the second reported case in Coryell County, and had been hospitalized in Advent Hospital in Killeen since April 2nd.

Officials went on to report that Coryell is currently tracking a total of 60 confirmed cases of COVID-19. This number includes 22 active, 4 recovered, 1 deceased, and 33 Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) inmates.

County officials continue to assert that the number of inmates does not match the number of positive inmate cases as reported by TDCJ on their website. The County continues to work with DSHS and TDCJ to accurately capture and report inmate cases within the local prison system.
