Cowboy Boot House Architect Builds Homes From Refuse in Huntsville
Earlier this year, we reported on Dan Phillips' Cowboy Boot House being up for rent in Huntsville. Now we can get a video tour of another project of his.
Reddit user HondaAnnaconda recently shared a link to a video of a beautiful tree house Phillips built from scraps donated by local ranchers.
The video description details Phillips' work building homes from refuse for low-income families, mostly single mothers. He employs unskilled workers and requires that mothers who are able-bodied help in the building process. He's reportedly built dozens of these homes in the Huntsville area.
According to youtube user Kristen Dirksen, Phillips estimates that 75 to 85% of the materials he uses for his builds come from salvage. He has built dozens of homes in the Huntsville area for low-income families and artists.
