Crockett, Texas Woman Arrested for Trying to Buy Another Woman’s Child at Walmart
Things got a little crazy at a Walmart in Crockett, Texas when a woman tried to buy another woman's child.
Welcome to Wally-World
Over the years, Walmart has become much more than a place to go do your shopping. It's practically taken on some kind of cult like status. I'm sure you've seen the memes online of the different kinds of "characters" you could see at any random Walmart in the country.
One-Stop-Shop
From groceries to automotive supplies and just about everything in between, Walmart is a go-to place for just about everything on your shopping list. There are several things however, that are not for sale at any Walmart in the country, and one of those things is children.
That apparently didn't stop Rebecca Lanette Taylor. According to Messenger-News, Taylor, 49, offered another woman $500,000 for one of her children at the Crockett Walmart.
Not for Sale
Taylor approached the woman in the self check-out line and originally offered her $250,000 for one of her children. The woman laughed her off, but was approached once again in the parking lot where Taylor upped the offer to $500,000.
The Arrest
The woman then called police, and after reviewing surveillance footage that caught the entire incident on camera, an arrest warrant was issued. Taylor was arrested and held on $50,000 bond in the Houston County Jail.
Taylor is being charged with the sale or purchase of a child, which is a third-degree felony.
Maybe a lesson learned for anybody new to shopping at the wild, wild world of Walmart, although just about anything can be purchased on the inside, and a few questionable things on the outside, attempting to buy or sell a human life is illegal and could land you in a lot of trouble.
When it comes to shopping at Walmart, It's best to stick to the legal stuff!
