Dallas Officer Dies After Street Race Goes Wrong
A Dallas police officer passed on Christmas Eve after sustaining injuries from a crash that occurred during a possible street race.
News reports from CBS DFW state that Dallas officer, Joseph George, was driving a Ford Mustang when he crashed into a tree in someone's yard.
George was transported to Baylor University Medical Center and remained in critical condition for 4 days before he passed on Christmas Eve.
Authorities believe that the officer may have been involved in a street race based on witness statements and video surveillance from those in the neighborhood. The officer's vehicle left tire skid marks the length of a football field, and police believe that George lost control of his vehicle.
The race is believed to have involved a white 2-door Suzuki coupe that was last spotted leaving the scene traveling eastbound on Mockingbird Lane.
Officer George was a four-year veteran of the department and assigned to the Northeast Patrol Division.
