Dallas Zoo Welcomes First Baby Gorilla in 20 Years
A baby gorilla has been born at the Dallas Zoo for the first time in 20 years!
NBCDFW.com reports the little fella was born last week to a 22-year-old gorilla named Hope. Hope is a critically endangered Western Lowland Gorilla. The two have spent the last few days bonding behind the scenes at the zoo. Since they have left the two alone together, zookeepers are still not sure of the sex of the new-born.
This is only the 5th bay gorilla at the Dallas Zoo in the last 50 years. The proud new mamma arrived at the zoo in 2017 as part of an effort to increase the population of gorillas in North America.
