Multi-genre artist, Diplo, let it slip that he was being a little naughty live on CNN New Years Eve Special. The co-host, Andy Cohen, asked Diplo what the most conventional place that he had ever done LSD at was. Before Andy was even finished asking the question Diplo answered by telling him that it was in the helicopter on the way there.

It was a little shocking to hear someone admit live on the air that they were on acid, even though it should come as no surprise that a musician might occasionally use LSD. There have been plenty of artists across all genres that have claimed to have tripped on the substance from Kasey Musgraves to Ray Charles.

What is surprising is when an artist openly admits it while being under the influence of such a substance. It was obvious that both CNN hosts, Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen, were shocked to hear Diplo tell them that he was on acid during the interview. The exchange was fun and entertaining even though it may have been a little shocking.

Diplo, himself, seemed to realize that confessing to the use of a Schedule 1 drug may not have been the best idea. Shortly after saying that he was on a psychedelic trip he told Anderson and Andy that maybe they should just cut that part of the segment out before being reminded that they were live on the air.

Reading the comments online it’s clear that the audience loved it. One person pointed out that only Diplo could make taking LSD on a helicopter ride en route to a CNN NYE party a seemingly normal thing to do while others called it “iconic” and “amazing”. Diplo posted a clip of the interview to his own Instagram with the caption of just one word, “Oops”.
