Friends of the Family Wine Pairing

Families in Crisis, Inc. will host a fundraiser called Friends of the Family Wine Pairing to benefit Families in Crisis, Inc. It will feature six specially paired wine and food items and an opportunity to learn more about wines. Each station will feature a 2 oz. pour and a small plate made specifically to pair with that wine. There will be a silent auction, a wine education station, a bottle pull, and music. Tickets are $50; sponsorships are available. It will be held Saturday, August 25 at 6-9 pm St Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church, Harker Heights. All proceeds benefit Families In Crisis, Inc. (FIC). FIC, a 501 c 3 nonprofit organization, houses, supports, and empowers people experiencing family violence, sexual violence, and homelessness. Founded in 1980, FIC serves Bell, Coryell, and Hamilton counties. It operates a 65 bed family violence shelter in Killeen, a 15-bed family violence shelter in Temple, and Friends In Crisis, a 78-bed homeless shelter in Killeen. FIC also provides outreach services to survivors of family and sexual violence, transitional housing assistance as well as rental assistance and supportive services to very-low income veterans and their families. Last year, FIC provided 28,366 shelter nights to 789 survivors at the family violence shelters and outreach services to 506 survivors. The homeless shelter provided 28,707 to 754 unduplicated persons. FIC provided hospital accompaniment to 153 survivors of sexual assault, and provided housing assistance/transitional housing to 302 new clients.
