Triple-digit heat is likely to remain a part of the weather pattern in Central Texas through the weekend causing the National Weather Service to issue an Excessive Heat Warning for Bell County.

The Excessive Heat Warning and Heat Advisory will remain in effect through Friday, and will likely be extended into the weekend. Extreme temperatures could cause heat-related illness if spend too much time outside. Please check on pets, neighbors, and the elderly during this heat wave. Never leave young children or pets in an enclosed vehicle during weather like this. 

Ercot is reporting record electricity use in the area over the last couple of days. KWTX reports that Ercot said demand reached a new high on Wednesday. 71,438 megawatts used between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday was enough to break the previous record of 71,110 megawatts set on Aug. 11, 2016.
