If I have one criticism of the beaches of the Outer Banks (besides sharks) it's that the waves aren't great.  It may not be this way up and down the beaches of North Carolina, but because the incline is so steep there aren't many waves to catch.

I'm not saying I'm Kelly Slater, but I love to get my boogie board on when I'm at the beach.  There's no way I'm ever going to stand up on a surfboard, so the boogie board is perfect for me to ride into shore.  The problem with the steep incline of the Carolina beaches is that there are no waves until the last possible moment before making landfall.

That didn't stop us from frolicking in the waves.  My 7-year-old, Logan, found out the hard way that Mother Nature's waves are nothing to mess with.
