Friday Night Sky in Texas To Feature Eclipse, Full Moon, and Comet
Eclipse, Full Moon, AND a Comet on Friday night? Grab your Valentine and check out the night sky as you kick off the weekend cause there is plenty to see up there.
The Snow Moon and Comet appearing at the same time is a pretty rare thing according to space peeps on the internet. The Full Moon on Friday night has been named the "Snow Moon" because it occurs during the period of time when we see the most snow in North America. According to Cnet, the Snow Moon Penumbral Lunar Eclipse will be best seen about the time the moon rises in the late afternoon locally (4:30p to 6:30p).
Just before sunrise on Saturday the "Comet 45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdušáková" will be visible to those with binoculars or a telescope. Nasa says to look for the comet inside the constellation Hercules.
If it gets cloudy over Texas, or you find you can't locate the comet, the website for the Slooh Observatory will have a live stream of the comets passing. You can link to it from here.
