Blake Shelton hit the stage with Garth Brooks over the weekend, and in a new interview, he claims the country icon has been "bullying" him over his high-profile romance with Gwen Stefani.

Shelton joined Brooks live on Friday night (July 19) at his concert at Albertsons Stadium at Boise State University in Boise, Idaho, to perform their new duet, "Dive Bar," live together for the first time, and he tells Entertainment Tonight that Brooks had some good-natured teasing in store for him.

"I got a text from my man here earlier that said, 'Hey, man, we got your dressing room set up for you,'" Shelton says. "And he sent me a picture and it was a paper that said 'Mr. Stefani' on it."

Shelton says Brooks has been "bullying" him "a little bit" over his relationship with Stefani, which has made headlines since they went public in 2015. But he doesn't plan to retaliate.

"It sucks because Garth is kind of off-limits," the "God's Country" singer says with a laugh. "You can't mess with him because he's like the godfather of country music."

In Monday night's (July 22) episode of Brooks' Facebook series, Inside Studio G, Shelton raved about getting the opportunity to work with Brooks, admitting he couldn't believe it when he got the call.

"It's like, 'What?! This is crazy," he shares. "He's the guy that, literally, between Garth and George Strait and Earl Thomas Conley, there's a handful of artists that had that kind of impact on me. Not just that I was into their music; it was the kind of thing that made me understand what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to be like those guys. I wanted to be on the radio. When I saw [Brooks'] first television special, it was like, 'I wanna be that guy.'"

The show in Boise was part of Brooks' ongoing Stadium Tour, which is slated to run for three years. Shelton has wrapped his own 2019 Friends And Heroes Tour, but Blake Shelton tickets are still available for his upcoming shows in 2019.
