Had this video surfaced around Halloween I might have started having nightmares.

Look at this gator spotted swimming in a lake in Fort Bend County near Houston with a knife in the middle of its head!! Was this the result of some hunter's 'last stand'? Was the knife thrown at the gator by some knife-wielding circus expert? Lord only knows!

Residents of Orchard Lakes Estates in Fort Bend County got upset not because of the gator, but because the reptile was obviously in need of some help.

ABC13.com spoke with Orchard Lakes resident Erin Weaver who said, "I saw him swimming and then I saw him turn, like swimming towards me, and I saw something sticking out of his head. It looked like a steak knife that was sticking out of his head, I don't know if it was in his eye, but it looked, if it wasn't in his eye it was very close to his eye."
This community by the lake is off of Grand Parkway and Highway 90 and it is a regular thing to see smaller gators cooling off in the water. Weaver's photos are getting lots of looks online the last 24-hours. She shared them with her community trying to figure out how this happened to the gator.

Eric told ABC13 Eyewitness News "I feel that somebody did this on purpose. I can't imagine this animal going after somebody that they would have to defend themselves, because we've never had that happen before."

The Fort Bend Co. Sheriff's Office says they can't file a report unless a deputy actually sees the injured animal. Weaver then contacted Texas Parks and Wildlife who are expected to be out Monday to look for the gator. ABC 13 spoke with Brazos Bend State Park Superintendent Chris Bishop who said gators are very resilient to infection and it's probably not in pain and able to live with the injury for some time.

Looks like a splitting headache to me!
