Hungry? Fine Dining Awaits at The Texas Chainsaw Massacre House
I know fans of classic horror movies will love this - the house from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre from 1974 is now a restaurant. Table for two, perhaps?
Remember this?
It's a true classic that has spawned eight follow-up movies and put Leatherface in the same group of immortal villain like Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, and Jason Voorhees.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Set in the rural Texas countryside, Leatherface and his family trap, kill, cook, and eat their victims. The original movie lays claim to being the first "slasher" film of the early 70's and probably the best of all nine movies in the franchise. (Although I did enjoy 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' which was released in early 2022.)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre House
The original house they used in the 1974 classic is an old Victorian structure built in the early 1900's and located on Quick Hill Road in Round Rock, Texas.
The house was moved in 1998 to its new location in Kingsland, Texas, where it was restored and eventually turned into a restaurant as part of the hotel and railroad district.
Now known as the Grand Central Café, it's hard to believe it's the same house where Leatherface and his family would terrify and devour their victims.
Grand Central Café
Now a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you can dine with ol' Leatherface himself. Plus, I'm 99.9% positive that "human" is not on the menu.
The Southern style menu features everything from chicken fried steak and eggs, omelets, and biscuits and gravy for breakfast, to steak and seafood for dinner.
The house is also open to explore as you wish with lots of great old pics on the wall.
If checking out a cool movie house is something you like to do, this should end up being a pretty cool roundtrip.
