The City of Harker Heights has changed up this year's Easter Egg Hunt so citizens can hunt for eggs while practicing social distancing from their vehicles.

This year, due to concerns over COVID-19, they're encouraging Harker Heights residents and businesses to participate by hanging up decorated eggs in their windows for all to drive around Easter weekend and hunt.

Harker Heights Activities Center & Events Manage Nichole Broemer has made three printable egg templates available on the City's Special Events website. Print them out or make your own egg shapes from paper, then decorate the eggs with crayons, stickers, glitter, water colors...whatever gets your creativity flowing.

Next, hang the decorated eggs in a window or other area visible from the street so families in their cars can spot them as they hunt for these eggs across Harker Heights.

If you'd like your home to be part of the City's master list of participating homes, send your street name and block number to nbroemer@harkerheights.gov by the end of the day Thursday, April 9. The list will be uploaded to the Special Events website.

They're asking that the eggs be left in windows or street-visible areas through Monday, April 13.

The City's traditional Easter egg hunt, which would have been on April 4, has changed with social distancing in mind to become "Easter online".

This year, it's virtual!

City staff have set up programs and activities for families to do at home this Easter week.

For instance, there is story time being hosted by The Harker Heights Library. On their website, you can check out a 360 -degree panorama view inside the library to see if you can hunt down eggs.

You can also visit the Harker Heights Parks and Recreation website for the EGG-cellent Drive and Hunt 2020 to guess show many eggs that are in the basket.
