We hope you get to spend some time this Memorial Day with friends and family enjoying the holiday weekend. Many will spend time visiting memorials and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Maureen Jouett with the Harker Heights chamber said, "Today we are out here not celebrating but commemorating". The Central Texas community came out from all around to observe the holiday on Saturday morning, lining up from Wildewood Dr to City Hall. Soldiers from Fort Hood, ROTC staff from the high school and local firefighters all lined up to roll down Knights Way together.

A ceremony in the city park was held after the parade in remembrance of those who lost their lives for our country. That remembrance will continue on Monday morning when a program will begin at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 10 am.
